The Royal Palace of Istana Negara is the main attraction of Kuala Lumpur. However, it became a palace relatively recently. This place has a history. Here was the mansion of a Chinese millionaire, then it was occupied by the Japanese and turned into a dining room for officers, it was also the residence of the Sultan of the state of Selangor and years later returned to Malaysia.
Today, the palace is the residence of the King of Malaysia. Royal ceremonies and other important events are held here. The area of the palace is 28 acres. On the territory there is a picturesque park, swimming pool, golf courses, tennis courts and a lake.
Standing on a hill near the city center, the palace welcomes numerous tourists daily. The palace is closed to visitors, but here you can still see the changing of the guard, take pictures against the background of the main gate.
