As Siakirin Mosque

Masjid As-syakirin Jalan Pinang, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Description:

In the city of Kuala Lumpur there is a truly majestic building - the As Siakirin Mosque. It is located near a large shopping center, a public park and the Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world.

The mosque was built in 1998. Its architecture is unique – it combines the styles of East and West Asia. The construction was designed by Uzbek architects, in their work they used a lot of granite and marble. In 2009, the mosque was renovated, and instead of 6,000 people, it began to accommodate 12,000 people.

Inside, this building is amazing. Walls with bizarre carvings and calligraphy, glass ceilings in the form of many leaves. The peculiarity of the mosque is that it does not have minarets. Initially, in the earliest mosques, they were not needed, but then they became an integral part of Islamic architecture. The people of Islam believe that minarets are necessary for the call to common prayer. But today, loudspeakers have appeared and the need for such towers has disappeared.

The mosque is open to tourists, and this state building can be seen by everyone, whether they believe or not.
