Tin factory

Description:

Royal Selangor Tin Factory is one of the largest manufacturers of tin products in the world. Near the factory stands a giant tin mug, listed in the Guinness Book of Records. The height of the mug is two meters, the weight is about one and a half tons, the volume is able to accommodate about three thousand liters.

Malaysia was the main supplier of tin almost until the end of the 60s of the XX century, covering a third of the sale of this metal in the world market. Currently, tin reserves are severely depleted, but Malaysians are rightly proud of their historical primacy in this area.

The Royal Selangor factory was founded at the end of the XIX century by the Chinese Yun Kun. Currently, the manufacturing technology has undergone serious changes: products are not made of pure tin, but from peuter - an alloy based on tin, where lead is most often added.

In the tin museum at Royal Selangor you can see many interesting exhibits, and a tour of the plant will introduce you to the production process of casting tin figures and their subsequent processing. The factory has a shop of souvenirs and tin products.
