- 09.00 departure for the excursion, during which you will visit: salt mineral springs, pineapple plantation, sheep farm, souvenir market.
- Bario is a highland that is located 1000 m above sea level, so it is highly recommended to use sunscreen lotion before the tour, as well as fill the bottle with drinking water.
The tour will begin with a visit to salt mineral springs. Here you will see the process of evaporation and preparation of salt. Bario mineral springs look like ordinary springs, which have one difference - their spring water has a salty taste. To extract the salt, locals evaporate it for 24 hours, and then the resulting salt is placed in bamboo pipes to subject them to further firing, which allows the salt to harden.
Next, you will visit a pineapple plantation and a sheep farm, where you will have the opportunity to feed the sheep with your hands. To do this, you need to buy salt and be patient so that the sheep get used to you and willingly eat salt from their hands.
- 13:00 family lunch, free time.
- 14.00 departure for an excursion to the long house of the tribe Kelabit.
The indigenous population of the Bario is the Kelabit tribe, which today is known for its friendliness and hospitality, thereby dwarfing its traditional bounty hunter past. That is why Bario is called the place of a thousand handshakes. The Kelabites, now numbering 5,000, are the smallest ethnic group in Sarawak.
The tribe lives in traditional long houses to this day and is famous for its hard work in growing bario rice and sweet pineapple. Bario Rice has long been considered one of the best in the world. It is famous for its soft texture, small and elongated grains with a mild aroma and great taste.
