Menara Gardens
Description:
Menara Gardens is a quiet olive grove around a large artificial lake. This cozy garden was laid out in the 13th century, a little later a lake appeared, and in 1870 a gazebo with a pointed pyramidal roof was built near the reservoir. The result is a wonderful holiday destination, one of the most romantic parks in Morocco.
The gardens of Menara are arranged in such a way that from all ends of the gardens there is an incredibly beautiful view of the Atlas Mountains, and it is not surprising that the Gardens of Menara are one of the most photographed places in Morocco. It is also a popular place among locals for picnics. The best time is the afternoon or evening, if it is still light enough. Once a small farm was turned into gardens, in the 12th century by the Almohads.
Approximately 30,000 olive trees are planted around a magnificent pool filled with fish that jump above the surface of the water, to the amazement of people passing by. The well-kept picnic pavilion was built much later, in 1869.
