Al-Mansour Mosque
Ksibet Nhas, Marrakesh, Morocco
Description:
The construction of the Al-Mansour Mosque began in the late 12th century. The mosque is named after the eminent statesman and military leader of the Caliphate of Cordoba, the main enemy of Christians of the time - Muhammad Al Mansour, under whom the Arab world reached the peak of its power. In 1574 the mosque was almost completely destroyed in a terrible fire.
To this day, only the result of numerous restorations has survived, which very remotely conveys the image of the original mosque. But this is enough to admire the amazing harmony of the Al-Mansour Mosque. The absolute advantage of the design of the building is the choice of color - light stone is very beautifully combined with sky-blue patterns on the minaret.
