Hassan Tower

Boulevard Mohamed Lyazidi, Rabat, Morocco

Description:

Hassan Tower is a famous symbol of the Moroccan capital Rabat since the Middle Ages.

Hasan Tower is one of the three most beautiful minarets of Islam. It is made of one-colored pink stone, decorated with a decorative bas-relief in the form of a grille and pointed arches. The Hasan Mosque, for which the minaret was erected, was the largest in the world of Islam, had 16 doors, three courtyards and about 400 columns, covered an area of 183 x 140 meters. Today, only fragments remain of it, the foundations of about 260 columns and a minaret. The tower will soon be updated. The Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom begins the restoration of the famous monument located in the area of the historical center of the city.
