Dar el Glaoui Palace
B.P. 518, Ouarzazate 45000, Morocco
Description:
Dar el-Glaoui Palace is made in the traditional Arab-Andalusian style - behind the high walls hide picturesque gardens and alleys paved with marble slabs. In addition to Moroccan motifs, European influences are discernible in the architecture of the palace.
Relative to other attractions of Morocco, the palace of Dar el Glaoui seems very young - it was built in the early 20th century. The construction was carried out by the famous Pasha and the last oligarch of Marrakesh - Thami el-Glaui. This man was a favorite of the French secular public, some called him a wise ruler, others a bloody tyrant.
Currently, the palace is conditionally divided into two parts - the first is the city library, and the second part is used to receive and accommodate high-ranking guests.
