Description:
The Capella Submarine Monument is a statue of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, which is located deep on the seabed. It was placed here by local fishermen three centuries ago. The Virgin Mary of Guadalupe is considered the patroness of Mexico. Mexicans believe that the Virgin helped them win the war for independence. The statue can only be seen from a boat that has a transparent bottom. Near the statue swim the inhabitants of the ocean. Here you can see colorful fish and octopuses, as well as various types of underwater plants.
A special boat departs daily from Caletilla Beach. There are always a lot of visitors in this place. But the greatest number of them is in winter. On the Twelfth of December, hundreds of locals and tourists come to the place where the statue is located and bring flowers and wreaths to it. The city celebrates this holiday for two days. In honor of the Virgin, religious ceremonies are held, a carnival is arranged, which ends with the launch of fireworks.
