Bridge in Ogel
Description:
The Ogel Bridge is a suspension bridge in a ghost town in northern Durango. At the beginning of the XX century, the crossing was considered the second largest suspension bridge in the world.
The bridge in Ogel was created in 1898 by the sons of the legendary American-German engineer John Roebling, the creator of the Brooklyn Bridge. It was in the project of a suspension bridge in Mexico that the Röblings continued their father’s work and used long steel bars as rigidity ropes. The bridge was actively used by Ojela workers working on gold and silver mines.
Today, the bridge, whose length exceeds 275 meters, is the main attraction of the abandoned mining city, which attracts more and more visitors. The bridge serves as a crossing over a deep canyon, which is a picturesque background for photography lovers.
