Viewpoint of the Monastery of Nuestro Signora de Remedios

The observation deck of the monastery of Nuestro Signora de Remedios is located in the northern part of the city of Durango. From a height of several hundred meters offers a beautiful view of the city center and its main attractions.

The monastery, which arose in the middle of the XVIII century, was built on a hill, which in ancient times was considered an Indian place of power. The Maya believed that on the top of the hill there were good spirits who watched over people and helped them in their affairs. A special atmosphere attracted here and Christian preachers who founded a monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

The observation deck is located on a wide square in front of the main monastery temple. You can get here by climbing the cable car, which begins in the heart of Durango. Citizens like to spend evenings here, concerts and city-wide holidays are often held at the monastery.
