The Poet's Corner Garden

Corona y Revolució n, Zona Centro, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico

Description:

The Poet’s Corner Garden is a secluded small city square where poetry readings and other cultural events often take place.

The garden is located near the church of San Francisco. Continuing the ancient colonial features of local architecture, it is a wonderful shady corner for relaxation.

The center of the Corner of Poets can be called a kind of monument of “three cultures”: the pyramid is formed by intertwined cross, crescent and star of David as symbols of three cultures and inscriptions in Castilian, Arabic and Hebrew. Another interesting site of the garden is the “wall of memory”, which captures several dozen prominent names of Alcala la Real – they are written on clay tablets invented by Salvador Alcala.

The garden is also known for its regular poetry readings and other cultural activities.
