Museum of Ex-Nacienda El Lencero

Xalapa, Mexico

About the company:

Ex-Nacienda El Lencero is a building of the XVI century, which houses a beautiful collection of furniture, dishes, kitchen utensils and other luxury items. Here you can see silver beds, Persian carpets, piano and other objects.

The most famous owner of the museum was General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana, who was President of Mexico many times. In the early twentieth century, the building served as a hotel where travelers from Veracruz stayed. The Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral visited this house for some time, and dedicated a very nostalgic farewell text to this house. This text can be seen on the memorial plaque.

The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 17 hours.
