Chankanaab reef
Parque Marino de Cozumel, Cozumel, Mexico
Description:
The Chankanaab Reef is one of the most unusual reefs located south of Chankanaab. In its shape, it resembles a giant ball with corals, which are located at a great distance from each other. It is here that a large population of giant lobsters and crabs that live between the corals is concentrated. To see such beauty, you need to dive to a depth of 60-70 pounds, and sometimes deeper.
As scientists managed to find out, reefs are special formations from the remains of shells of marine life, which for many centuries under the pressure of water formed in sediments. This is how nature mysteriously created reefs. Diving underwater, you can also see a huge variety of marine life – such as jellyfish, seahorses and sharks.
