Cortés Palace

Corts Palace, Cuernavaca, Mexico | Leyva 100

Description:

The Palace of Cortez is one of the oldest secular castles in Mexico City. It was founded in the 15th century and was considered the possession of the Cortés family for a long time.

The castle is located in the heart of the city.

This house shows the entire culture of the 15th century. After the death of Cortez, the castle was empty for a long time, and then was completely demolished. In the middle of the XVII century, the palace was rebuilt, and by the XX century it was turned into a Regional Historical Museum.

Most of the exhibits are dedicated to the Aztec era. The palace presents objects of everyday life and art of that time. Here you can look at the maps used by the population, as well as appreciate the paintings and frescoes created by Diego Rivera himself. Cortez’s home also houses many items reminiscent of the Mexican Revolution.
