La Enseanza Church
Description:
The Church of La Enseanza is a neoclassical church that is part of the monastery of the same name. The official name of the church is Iglesia de Nuestra Senora del Pilar.
The church was built between 1772 and 1778 by architect Francisco Antonio Guerrero at Torres. It was consecrated by Archbishop Alonso Nunez de Aro of Mexico near Peralta in 1778.
It is a small octagonal church with a facade built in 1912. Unlike most temples of the monastery, it has only one portal, not two. The interior of the temple is made in the Baroque style. The light that enters the temple illuminates and highlights the golden details of the altars. In the center of the temple there is a main altar with images of holy gifts, Ignatius Loyola and Benedict of Nursia.
