Iturbide Palace

Madero Street, 17, Mexico City, Mexico

Description:

Iturbide Palace is a three-storey luxury building located in the historic district of Mexico City.

It was built by Count of San Mateo Valparaiso, who gave this house to his daughter on his wedding day. The palace was built in the Baroque style by Francisco Antonio Guerrero near Torres. The house was finally completed by the architect’s brother Agustin in 1785. The facade of the house is decorated with carved stone. There are towers on both sides of the facade. The porch of the house is decorated in the form of an arch and overlooks a large courtyard.

At the beginning of the XIX century, the College of Mining was located in the palace building, and in 1855 a hotel was opened here. In 1965, the building was bought and restored with funds from the National Bank of Mexico.

Now the palace has creative workshops and numerous temporary art exhibitions.
