In one corner of the square is the Casa Colorada house, which was built by the conquistador Hernán Cortés for Dona Marina. In the southeast side of the square is the Chapel of Conchita, built in the 18th century in the Baroque style. In the southern part there is a bronze statue of Frida Kahlo, made by modern Mexican sculptor Gabriel Ponzanelli.
