Republic Square

Plaza de La Repú blica, Mexico City, Mexico

Description:

Republic Square is located near the center of the capital of Mexico. It is known for the fact that in the past it was a real arena for political events and still holds various processions and demonstrations.

The area is spread over a large area. Its center is decorated with an unusual monument to the Mexican revolutionaries of 1910. It seems to be raised above the ground and hovers on a base that supports geometric designs reminiscent of the ancient Mexican style. The monument itself is rather made in the art deco style. At the top (where you can climb by a special elevator) is the Museum of the Revolution and a cafe.

The flat spacious surface of the square and the monumental structure in the middle create a very unusual landscape, which is softened by the jets of fountains arranged along its perimeter.

Now the area, recently reconstructed, has several functions. This is a great place to relax for citizens, and a place where it is very convenient to arrange large-scale holidays or other socially significant events.
