Three Cultures Square

Eje Central Eje Uno Norte, Mexico City, Mexico

Description:

Three Cultures Square is the main square of Mexico City Tlatelolco. The square was built in 1966. The author of the project was the famous Mexican architect Mario Pani Darkvi.

The square bears this name because three cultures are represented in its architecture.

The culture of Tenochtitlan is evidenced by the remains of Aztec buildings of the pre-Columbian period of history and the ruins of pyramids. The temple of Santiago, located on the square, is built in the style of Spanish culture. The features of modern Mexican culture are embodied in the construction of the Tlatelolco Tower, where in 2005 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico was located. Currently, the tower is transferred to the main building of the National Autonomous University.
