Paseo de la Reforma Avenue
Description:
Paseo de la Reforma is Mexico City’s central straight street, crossing the city diagonally.
The street was designed by Ferdinand von Rosenzweig in 1860 on the model of the famous avenues of Europe. The initiator of the construction was the then reigning Emperor Maximilian, who wished to connect his imperial residence with Chapultepec Castle.
Currently, on the avenue there are many sights of Mexico City, luxury restaurants and hotels, administrative buildings built according to modern projects.
Here are the Embassies of the USA, Colombia, Japan, the European Union, Peru, museums that are part of the Chapultepec Park, the zoo and others.
In 2003, the government of Mexico City gradually carried out the reconstruction of the avenue. Part of the program is the creation of new gardens and the improvement of old ones, the provision of modern lighting, the construction of a bay to the zoo, the creation of artificial reservoirs.
