Ancient toy museum

Dr. Olvera 15, Mexico City, Mexico

About the company:

The Toy Museum is a private collection owned by the Shimizu family.

It was founded in 1955 by Roberto Shimizu, who was a famous architect in Mexico.

Previously, there was a shop for Roberto’s original toys brought from Japan. Over time, the store became a museum.

Roberto purchased toys from flea markets, bazaars, suppliers and other means. The oldest toy was made in 1800. There are several million toys in the museum. A small part of the collection is exhibited in showcases, and most are stored in warehouses.

Thematic exhibitions are constantly held in the museum.
