About the company:

The Museum of the City of Mexico since 1964 is located in an ancient palace, which was the property of Count Santiago de Calimaya. The museum building is an example of the architecture of the XVIII century in the Baroque style.

The palace was built in 1781 by architect Francisco Guerrero Torres. The facade of the building covers the tesontl – volcanic stone, which covered many facades in those days. The interior decoration indicates the high social status of the former owners. The wall of the southwestern side of the palace is decorated with a stone head of a winged snake, which indicates the influence of Aztec culture.

The courtyard is decorated with a majestic fountain, represented by the figure of a sailor holding a guitar, and triple arches at the steps.

The museum exhibits occupy 26 halls. The museum contains materials that describe the history of the development of Mexico City from the time of the Aztecs to our time.

The museum hosts short-term exhibitions and educational events, concerts and creative meetings.
