National Museum del Virreinato
Plaza Hidalgo N 99, Tepotzotlan, Mexico | Barrio San Martn
About the company:
The National Museum del Virreinato is dedicated to the study, preservation and dissemination of the culture of the colonial era, one of the most significant periods in the history of Mexico.
The building of the museum formerly housed schools for indigenous peoples, and then a Jesuit college. The museum was opened in 1964.
The permanent exhibitions include a collection of ivory and wood products - sculptures, paintings, household items, as well as a collection of art and crafts of New Spain (work objects of blacksmiths, artists, potters, sculptors and others), a gallery with paintings representing the life of crowned nuns.
Temporary exhibitions of recent times reflect the art of contemporary photographers, religious folk art, the life and exile of the Jesuits in the region, as well as a variety of silverware.
