Chopo University Museum

Dr. Enrique Gonzalez Martinez, 10, Mexico City, Mexico

About the company:

The University Museum of Chopo is one of the attractions of Mexico City.

Currently, the museum is located in an exhibition pavilion made of cast iron structures. The pavilion was originally intended to host an international art and industrial exhibition in Dusseldorf in 1902. The structure was then bought by Mexican authorities.

The Chopo Museum has been operating since 1970. At the beginning of this century, a large-scale reconstruction of the historic building was carried out, the main goal of which is to increase resource efficiency. To do this, solar panels, a rainwater collection and filtration system were installed on the roof of the building. Glasses with UV filters are inserted into the windows of the museum building.

The new building has six exhibition halls, a hall-forum for 216 seats, a cinema hall for 132 spectators, a library, educational facilities for ballet and visual creativity.
