Monument to Faro del Comercio
Centro, 64000 Monterrey, NL, Mexico
Description:
The monument “Faro del Comercio” (“Lighthouse of Trade”) is the most recognizable tourist attraction in Monterrey, designed by Mexican architect Luis Barragan and built by architect Raul Ferrera in 1984.
The monument was built in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Monterrey Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is located near Makroplaza, in front of the city cathedral. Faro del Comercio reaches a height of almost 70 meters and 12.33 meters in width. The Red Monument is hard to miss when visiting Makroplaza Central Park, and this is not surprising, because the monument is the tallest building in the country.
At night, the monument projects a green ray of light on the city.
