State Museum of Folk Culture
Abasolo 1024 Monterrey Centro, 64000 Monterrey, Nuevo Leó n, Mexico
About the company:
The State Museum of Folk Culture opened on September 24, 1982. Its founder and first director was anthropologist Guillermo Bonfil Botella. The purpose of the museum was to preserve and develop the cultural heritage of the peoples of Mexico.
Today, the museum has many permanent exhibitions and thematic exhibitions. One of the most interesting is the exposition of ceramics, which played a huge role in the economy throughout the history of the country. Their masters of ceramics made not only the usual dishes, but also other household items. Like granaries.
The visiting card of the museum is muralismo graffiti, which Mexican art historians consider a continuation of folk fine traditions. On the outer walls of the museum you can see the works of modern artists. In particular, the rather famous David Alfaro Siqueiros.
The opening hours of the museum are from Tuesday to Thursday from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Friday and Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00. The entrance ticket price is $11.00.
