Oaxaca Regional Museum

Gurrin at Alcal, Oaxaca, Mexico

About the company:

The Oaxaca Regional Museum is considered the cultural center of the city.

The Oaxaca Regional Museum was built in the late sixteenth century. Previously, a monastery was located on this place. The halls of the museum, where its exhibits are placed, used to serve as cells for monks. In addition to antique jewelry, valuable cutlery and household items, the museum contains things found in the tombs of Mexican rulers. There is a museum and a hall in which paintings by local artists are presented.

The Oaxaca Regional Museum is open all year round. Not only Mexicans come to see its collections, but also visitors to Mexico.

The museum covers an area of several square kilometers. Therefore, many who come here do not go to the museum itself, but wander around its surroundings.

Near the regional museum of Oaxaca is a huge ethnobotanical garden. It has a large collection of trees and plants that grow in Mexico.
