Description:
The Temple of Inscriptions is a unique architectural structure, one of the examples of architectural art of the ancient Mayan civilization. The temple of inscriptions is the tomb of the ruler of the Baakul Mayan kingdom - K'inich Khanaab Pakal. The temple was discovered in 1952, and excavations were carried out here for a long time. Only four years later, the burial was discovered, which was safely hidden in an underground cache. Examination showed that the great ruler died at the age of 80 years. He was buried with countless treasures and six young men sacrificed.
The temple of inscriptions owes its name to several hundred hieroglyphs placed on the walls of the temple. To date, half of them have not been deciphered.
