The Temple of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Av M. Hidalgo o Carr. a Cholula 52, 72828PUE

Description:

The Temple of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located in the village of Santa Maria Tonzintla, located in the Mexican state of Puebla. It was built in the XVII century on the place where the Aztecs have long worshiped the mother goddess.

The temple is known for its bizarre appearance: folk Mexican art, reflected in the bright variety of colors, is combined in it with the most beautiful ornament of the Mexican (New Spanish) Baroque period. In general, it turns out solemn, luxurious and very elegant design.

Today, the church is open to tourists, but also fulfills its main purpose: services are held here, prayer services are regularly held.
