Museum del Valle de Tehuacan

Reforma Norte 2, Tehuacan, Mexico

About the company:

The Museum del Valle de Tehuacan was opened in 1967 and is located on the territory of the former Carmelite monastery of the seventeenth century.

The museum displays the development of agriculture in the region (such as the domestication of corn) and the transformation of villages into cities. There is a section dedicated to pre-Hispanic gods or temporary exhibitions.

The museum includes a small garden in which endemic plants are grown.

Some of the most famous artifacts of the museum - the oldest cobs of corn or samples of seeds of various plants, stone tools, ceramics and masks - complement the existing collections.

In the souvenir shop of the museum you can buy part of the works of temporary exhibitions and souvenirs made by local masters.
