The Virgin Palace-Museum
Russia, 301832, Tula region, Bogoroditsk, park territory, No. 1
About the company:
The real architectural heritage of the city of Bogoroditsk is the Bogoroditsky Palace-Museum of the same name, as well as the park surrounding it. The ensemble is located on the bank of a pond formed on the Uppert River.
The palace-museum is located in the former estate of the counts of Bobrinsky, which was created by Catherine II for her illegitimate son A.G. Bobrinsky. The palace building is distinguished by luxury and elegance, because it is made in the style of early classicism. The palace-museum is the center of the city, from which the five main streets of Bogoroditsk diverge in rays. The planning of the city and the park was carried out by the famous Russian scientist A.T. Bolotov. The ensemble includes the entrance tower adjacent to the main entrance and the Kazan temple.
The most fascinating part of the park area is the pond, in the purest water of which the facade of the palace with a semicircular ledge and the park itself is displayed. In 1980, a historical and art museum was opened in the palace building. The expositions of the museum tell about the creators of the Bogoroditsky ensemble, about the owners of the Bobrov estate.
The main halls of the second floor conquer the luxury of decoration. Here the richness of the interior of the XVIII - XIX centuries is clearly demonstrated. Museum collections consist of ancient paintings, sculptures, complemented by skillful drapery and indoor plants.
The museum hosts excursions, and permanent expositions acquaint guests with the history and culture of early classicism in Russia.
