Koba Ball Stadium
Description:
The ball playground is one of the most notable, mysterious and intriguing structures of the ancient Mayan city of Koba.
This small jungle “stadion” consists of a long narrow field and two sloped gray stone walls. At the top of the walls are two rings. According to researchers, it was in these rings that Indian athletes threw the ball. There is also an assumption that the final of these matches were human sacrifice, however, sacrificed winners or losers – remains a mystery.
However, it is possible that archaeologists have inaccurately determined the functional purpose of the field, since there are no seats for spectators on it.
