Bendery

"Benders" - Turkish fortress

Description:

On October 8, 2008, the day of the celebration of the 600th anniversary of Bendery, the military-historical complex "Bendery Fortress" was inaugurated. Here, for the guests of the city and all Bender residents, the Reconstruction of the storming of the Bendery fortress in 1770 took place. According to history, the capture of Bendery Fortress by General-Anchef Count Panin was one of the most important historical events. That year, under the onslaught of the Russian army, the Fortress, which no one could conquer, fell.

But many events preceded this, including the construction of the fortress itself, which began due to the fact that Moldova fell under the Turkish yoke and stayed under it for 300 years. It was on this place, on the gentle bank of the Dniester River, where before there was a small customs point, the walls of a large-scale fortification began to be erected.

Until 2008, the walls of this fortress were only military. There had never been an excavation or study of historians. But today in the citadel of the fortress there is a museum where you can see two diaramas, photos of personalities who visited here, tools found on the surface of the earth belonging to both Russians and Turks, and Swedes.

During the trip to Bendery fortress you will visit and see:
