Museum of Romanian Literature “M. Kogalniceanu”

31 August 1989, house 98, Chisinau, Moldova

About the company:

The museum was officially opened in 1965. The historical center appeared thanks to students of the state university, who collected pieces of exhibits. They traveled all over Moldova and the places where their countrymen used to live in search of rare things. Many gave for free, with some students had to bargain. Whatever it was, but the students of the university collected a very large collection.

Since the beginning of the opening, the museum was named in honor of the encyclopedist D. Cantemir. After 10 years he was given the name of the literary researcher M. Kogalnichan.

The main exhibits of the Moldovan Museum are books. In total, they collected a little more than 20 thousand copies. There are even those that date back to the XVI century. But most of them are old editions of national Moldovan writers.

No less interesting, after books - manuscripts. Their number is also impressive - about 25 thousand. Important value is the personal notebook of the poet A. Mateevich, in which he made notes for future poems.
