National Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Moldova
About the company:
The museum used to belong to a high school for girls founded by Princess Dadiani. The institution studied only children of noble origin. The school was built for them according to aristocratic canons. The style is the Italian Renaissance.
1939 is considered the official date of opening of the museum. At first it looked like a photo gallery, the work of which was lost during the Patriotic War. The museum was restored five years later.
To date, the collection of the Moldovan Museum is more than 30 thousand copies. The main place among the presented objects of modern art is the iconography of the Middle Ages. The exhibits perfectly illustrate Orthodox Christianity in Moldova.
No less interesting is the graphic painting. The museum has paintings by local artists, as well as famous Russian and European artists. Of great value are the original of Rembrandt, I. Aivazovsky, Kitagawa Utamaro, I. Repin and many others.
