Jal Vinayak Temple

Kathmandu, Nepal

Description:

Jal Vinayak Temple is one of the main attractions of the Kathmandu Valley. It was built in 1603 on the site of an ancient sanctuary and is dedicated to the Indian deity Ganesha. It is crowned by a beautiful three-tiered roof, decorated with various images and carvings. Inside the temple there are about 300 figures of Ganesha, on them he is represented as a short pussy man with yellow skin, four arms and the head of an elephant. The elephant symbolizes patience, loyalty and truth. At the entrance to the temple there is a figure of a huge rat sitting on a high rectangular pedestal, which symbolizes the image of Ganesha while receiving sacrifices. The infrastructure of the Jal Vinayak temple includes outbuildings, a neatly manicured courtyard and 10 acres of land on which fruits and vegetables are grown.

Every year, this place attracts thousands of tourists who want to enjoy an amazing monument of architecture and culture firsthand. At the temple there is a small souvenir shop, where you will be presented with various keychains, figurines and calendars with images of Ganesha and the temple of Jal Vinayak.
