Bodnath Temple Center
Bodnath, 10 km northeast of Kathmandu, 44600, Nepal
Description:
The Buddhist temple center Bodnath is located in the town of the same name on the outskirts of Kathmandu.
In the center of the complex there is a large Buddhist stupa, around which dozens of monasteries of different directions of Buddhism are located. Around the stupa in a circle are narrow streets and alleys, colorful four-storey houses with shops, souvenir shops and restaurants.
Bodnath is considered the main center of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. The stupa was built in the VI century and is a spatial mandala, serving as the embodiment of the Universe. Parts of the mandala symbolize all earthly elements – earth, water, fire, air, and the crowning all this belvedere symbolizes the sky.
It is here that the Bodnath monks produce the original Shambhala bracelets, which are truly considered real and protect the wearer from various misfortunes. This place is also known for the fact that there were shootings from the central scenes of the film “Little Buddha”, directed by Bertolluch.
