Tiangboche Monastery

Tyangboche, Lukla - Everest Base Camp Trekking Route, Khumjung 56002, Nepal

Description:

Tjangboche Monastery is one day’s walk from Namche Bazar. The monastery was founded by lamas from the Ronbuk monastery in Tibet, located on the other side of Mount Everest. The Tjangboche Monastery is dominated by several small monasteries throughout the surrounding area.

About fifty people live in Tjangboch. It is not only climbers who come to the monastery, climbing eight-thousanders or travelers who go to the base camp at the foot of Everest or to trekking peaks. There are also hundreds of pilgrims who want to experience Nepalese culture and Eastern philosophy.

From the Tiangboche Monastery there are magnificent views of Everest and Lhodze. The two largest peaks border a single huge crater. On the right is Mount Lhodze, and from it departs the front wall of the crater a little less than 8000 meters high. Because of this wall, Mount Everest looks out and slightly to the side - the most beautiful mountain in the district - Ama Dablanc, similar to the Egyptian Sphinx.
