Climbing Island Peak + Mera Peak

Description:

We all want to climb Mount Everest. Or almost everyone. Why does he seem so out of reach? The main test for a person is height. From the cold and wind it is easy to protect yourself with modern equipment, but the height makes itself felt by everyone. Climbing Island Peak is a very good step in your high-altitude experience. Quite comfortable acclimatization, where you almost do not have to spend the night in the tent, except for the night of the assault, the high location of the camps, allow you to almost certainly climb to the top.

However, if acclimatization is a long process, why not save time by climbing the second six thousandth? This is what we thought about a few years ago when we created this program. As a result, you do not need to come twice on long expeditions, just add five days to the ascent of Island Peak to go to Mera. The total high-altitude experience of such an expedition (by the way, between the peaks of another 2 passes - 5850 and 5600 m) will give a serious groundwork for more complex high-altitude ascents - Aconcagua, Lenin and even Manaslu!

Important information:

  • The time of check-in and eviction is regulated by the hotel: check-in from 15 hours, departure from the hotel - up to 11-12 hours. Baggage can be left at the hotel reception and walk around the city, or, if technically possible, pay extra for early arrival / late departure.
  • In Nepal, there are a number of difficulties with the exchange of small, worn-out and old (pre-2009 issue) dollar bills, keep this in mind. Somewhere it is an extra commission, somewhere it is a refusal to exchange.

Island Peak Climbing Program and Guided Peak Measure

Day 1. Arrival in Kathmandu. Members of the expedition arrive at Tribhuvan Airport. Half an hour before landing from the windows of the aircraft you can see the velvet-green hilly valley of Kathmandu, which is surrounded from the north by sparkling glaciers of the Himalayan mountain ranges. The first thing you will often hear during your stay in Nepal is the traditional greeting “Namaste”, which literally means “In your face I salute God.” A Nepalese visa can be obtained at the airport. In the evening, dinner and instruction in the restaurant of national Nepalese cuisine, as well as dances and songs of various nationalities that inhabit Nepal. Hotel night.

Day 2. Flight to Lukla (2860 m) and trekking to Pakding (2610 m). On the second day in a small plane, the group leaves Kathmandu for Lukla. The flight takes about 45 minutes. The track starts from Lukla. The path passes through Sherpa farms and villages along the trail and leads to the Dudkoshi River and further down to Padding. On the way you will meet the Tadokola River, from its shore you can admire the magnificent view of Kusum-Kangaru. The river then crosses over a suspension bridge and after a short ascent the group goes to the village of Ghat. Another hour and a half walk and the group arrives in the village of Padding, where they stay for the night. Night in the loggia.

Day 3. Trekking to Namche Bazaar (3440 m). The group goes on the road in the morning. After crossing the suspension bridge over the river Dudkosi there is a road with small uppours and descents, and from the village of Benkar there is an amazing view of the Tamserku mountains (6608 m). The road then goes through several bridges and leads to Monjo, a settlement that houses the central entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. The group enters the national park, descends and approaches the suspension bridge over the Bhotekoshi River. Behind the bridge begins the village of Jorsal - this is the last settlement in front of Namche Bazar. Further, the road leads through the Imjatse River Bridge, from where a winding path leads to Namche Bazar. It offers amazing views of Everest, the peaks of Kwangde and Lhotse, as well as a close view of Tawache Peak.
