Climbing Manasla

Description:

If you are planning your first eight thousandth, then Manaslu is the preferred option. We fly by helicopter to the village at the foot of the mountain, where we enjoy day hikes to acclimatize before climbing to base camp to begin the climb. We will climb the northeast wall using four camps along the way. The climb will take place on snowy slopes at a moderate angle, and only on the way to Camp Four will we use fixed ropes to overcome a series of short convex ice formations to reach the flat saddle and camp. The day of the summit is the cherry on the cake for any climber – we will climb the snowy slope to the plateau, overcome the steep snow ridge, and finally find ourselves on the summit soaring above the clouds with grandiose views around!

Manasla Ascent Program

Day 1. The journey begins in the ancient and colorful city of Kathmandu. Our representative will meet you at the airport. You will stay in a comfortable, simple, clean hotel and enjoy delicious Nepalese, Tibetan and Western cuisine. With free time in Kathmandu, you will have the chance to explore the magnificent 17th-century monkey temple, Durbar Square and the old royal palace, as well as the ancient city of Patan. In the evening, acquaintance with the expedition leader, guides and other climbers. Briefing and briefing before the start of the expedition and dinner with all its participants. Hotel night.

Day 2. This day will be dedicated to the final preparations for the expedition, check all the equipment that we send in advance to base camp, and prepare for the flight from Kathmandu. Hotel night.

Day 3. In the morning after breakfast transfer to the airport. By helicopter, we will go to the village of Samagaun near Manaslu at an altitude of 3530 meters, here the locals have preserved the traditional way of life for centuries, engaged in yak breeding and agriculture. Above the village there is a famous monastery, in which the lamas (monks) are consecrated only by inheritance, which means that only after the death of the father the eldest son has the right to inherit his status. In this place we will spend a few days making acclimatization exits. Nights in the loggia.

Day 4-7. Acclimatization exits. Nights in the loggia.

Day 8. Today we have to trek to the base camp Manaslu at an altitude of 4700 meters. Tent night.

Day 9-11. We equip the base camp, acclimatize at a new height and prepare for the ascent.

Day 12-24. Installation of high-rise camps and acclimatization exits. The route to the first camp will pass through grassy slopes, stone slabs and moraines, and then along a cracked glacier with small ice steps to the camp at an altitude of 5500 m. Even during peak season, there can be snow around base camp and above. Views of the surrounding peaks will inspire us all the way, moreover, we will be lucky almost the entire route to admire the peak of Manaslu up to the fourth camp. The greatest technical difficulty is the section of the way to the second camp at an altitude of 6,250 meters, you will have to move along the ropes fixed on a steep slope. There are also several vertical ice steps. Further, it is relatively simple to go to the third camp - acclimatized climbers can pass this stage in about 3-4 hours.

From the third camp, we will have a rather tense climb to the fourth camp at an altitude of 7450 meters, where we will have a well-deserved rest and the necessary rehydration, which will increase our chances of success.

Day 25-36. Climb to the top and descend to base camp. The day of ascent will begin well before dawn, and the ascent will take about 6-7 hours. The climb is far from technical in its beginning - we will overcome several basins connected by short jumpers. Having reached the false summit of Manaslu, we will overcome the open ridge that will lead us to the summit of Manaslu! It offers an unforgettable view of the surrounding peaks.

The expedition leader with an impressive climbing experience, guides and our team of Sherpas will do everything necessary to ensure that you reach the 8th highest peak in the world!

Day 37. Descent to the village of Samagaun on the already known trail.

Day 38-40. Trekking from Samagaun to Soti Khola.

Day 41. Return to Kathmandu, where the already familiar hotel greets us with hot baths and plush towels. In the evening, at dinner, we will experience the adventures of the last weeks, celebrate the ascent, solemnly award certificates and build new “mountain” plans.

Day 42. Airport transfer. Departure from Kathmandu.

A more detailed program by day, taking into account the reserve, is determined by the head of the expedition on the spot, depending on weather conditions, the health of the group and the state of the slope.
