For Russians opened a new ski resort in the near abroad

Since January 16, Nordwind airline has started flying from Moscow to the Azerbaijani city of Gabala, from where you can get to the Tufandag ski resort.

The first flight on January 16 was performed by Nordwind airline. A regular Boeing 737-800 flight with a layout of 189 seats will take place on Sundays. Travel time is 3 hours. The fare for the flight is 7 thousand rubles. one way per person.

Tourists must have a certificate of vaccination (approved "Satellite V"), which can be replaced by a document of recovery from COVID-19. You need a certificate with a negative PCR test result issued no earlier than 72 hours before departure.

Gabala, 215 km from Baku, is attractive with historical sights, including the ruins of a thousand-year-old city, beautiful nature and the ski resort of Tufandag.

Those who just get up on skis and want to relax at an excellent resort, Tufandag will not disappoint, experts of the tour operator Intourist believe.

There is a 5* hotel on Tufandag. The cost of living there starts from 116 dollars. US per person per night.

Now Russians who are interested in Azerbaijani skiing, mainly prefer the resort of Shahdag, to which they go from Baku airport, and Gabala is not yet familiar to Russians, and is practically not in demand.

Russia remains an important market for tourism in Azerbaijan. In 2019, more than 900 thousand Russians visited the country.

Experts describe the current demand for Azerbaijan as low. This is largely due to the current restrictions – the country accepts only vaccinated tourists, which does not contribute to mass demand.
