From Russia to Greece: prices and tours in 2023
The Bank of Greece (BoG) published a report according to which in 2022, Greece 36.1 thousand arrivals from Russia were recorded (16.2 times less than in 2019).
Revenues from Russian tourists also fell: in 2019, Russians brought Greek tourism 433 million euros, and in 2022 - 41.4 million euros (a decrease of 10.5 times).
In the last season, Russians spent more in Greece than the total tourists from Sweden and Denmark, and slightly lost in total spending to travelers from Switzerland, Austria, Belgium.
Tour operators report that interest in travel to Greece has increased slightly this year compared to 2022.
This trend is due in particular to the emergence of additional options for regular flights with connections in third countries. With a transfer flight from Russia to Greece will take about 10 hours, transit points – Istanbul, Dubai, Belgrade, Cairo.
The shortest connections to Greece will be in Yerevan: about 4 hours.
More than 55% of booked tours to Greece in 2023 are 5* and 5* Deluxe hotels. Among the possible options for meal plans, the most popular among tourists are “all inclusive” (55%) and “breakfast + dinner”.
