How do Russians choose hotels?
More than a third of Russian tourists, when choosing a hotel both in Russia and abroad, do not pay attention to its “star”, and 11% are looking for five-star hotels.
The study involved 1,200 respondents aged 18 and older who had used any hotel service in the past 12 months.
11% of Russians consider hotels with five stars, 27% - with four. 20% recognize hotels with three stars. Only 7% look at 0 to 2-star hotels and 35% don’t look at stars at all.
The majority of Russians – 66% – are convinced that assigning “stars” to hotels affects the quality of services provided, and a quarter check whether the declared rating corresponds to the certificate of classification of the hotel.
56% believe that the “star” of hotels meets the stated level, 6% believe that the number of stars does not really determine the quality of services. 36% of respondents think that hotels often do not meet the stated category, and 3% believe that all hotels do not justify the received stars.
74% consider a 10-point rating of hotels on reviews and booking sites when planning travel. Of these, the majority - 27% - are looking for hotels with a rating of at least 8 points, 11% and 13% are interested in hotels with a rating of 10 and 9 points, respectively, and only 7% are ready to settle in hotels rated from 6 points and above. A quarter of respondents (26%) do not study ratings at all, the experts added.
