The flow of foreign tourists to Russia for the first half of the year increased to 187.8 thousand people, which is 130% higher than the same period in 2022.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), citing data from the border service of the FSB of the Russian Federation, reports that two-thirds of foreign citizens visited Russia from April to June.
In the first half of 2019, about 2 million foreign tourists visited Russia.
In the first place in the number of tourist visits in the first half of 2023 was China. In just six months of 2023, Chinese tourists made 32.3 thousand visits to Russia.
In the first quarter of 2023, China returned to the top suppliers of tourists to Russia for the first time, and in the next quarter for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic again the first place. In second place is Turkey, and 20.6 thousand visits to Russia. As with China, most of them are business-like.
