How did the tourist flow in Russia grow in 2023?
According to Rosstat, from January to September 2023, the tourist flow in Russia increased by 16% compared to the same period last year and reached 135 million trips.
By the end of 2023, the number of tourist trips in Russia may reach 170 million, according to the Russian Union of Travel Industry.
The growth of interest in domestic tourism is associated with the expansion of supply in the market and a significant rise in the price of tours abroad. The most popular region for travel traditionally remains Krasnodar region. Prices for travel for the year increased - up to 14%.
In January-September 2023, Russians made 135 million trips around the country. This is 19.1 million (16%) more than in the same period last year, follows from the operational data of Rosstat.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the demand is not only traditionally popular subjects, but also relatively new points of attraction on the map of Russia. The government will continue to accelerate the creation of tourist infrastructure in the regions on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. The key tool to support the industry is the national project “Tourism and hospitality industry”.
According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, the largest growth rate in the number of tourists staying in hotels was noted in the North Caucasus: for nine months - by 53% compared to the same period last year. The leaders are Kabardino-Balkaria, Stavropol Territory, Dagestan. In Siberia, the Altai Republic leads.
