Kaliningrad region: who will not pay the resort fee?
Minister of Culture and Tourism of the region Andrey Yermak said that the resort fee in the Kaliningrad region It is planned to charge only tourists who stay at official places of accommodation.
The resort fee will be introduced as soon as the relevant law, which will give the regions the right to establish a tourist fee, is adopted at the federal level.
The fee will be paid only by tourists who stay in official places of accommodation: hotels, hostels, sanatoriums, etc., or rent an apartment for rent from bona fide landlords who work officially and pay taxes.
“Please pay special attention. The fee will be charged only from the second day of stay, excluding the day of arrival. The collection operators will be the collective accommodation facilities themselves. When leaving the hotel or rented housing, tourists will be issued an appropriate bill depending on the number of days spent in the region, Yermak said.
Kaliningrad residents will not pay the fee during their holidays in local hotels.
All preferential categories of citizens specified in Federal Law No. 214, as well as minors, regardless of their main place of residence, will be exempt from the fee. Students of full-time departments of universities in the region, sports and cultural delegations from the collection are also exempt.
According to him, "you can count on an additional almost 200 million rubles a year for the development of the tourist infrastructure of the Kaliningrad region at the expense of the resort fee."
The issue of introducing a resort fee was discussed in the Kaliningrad region at the end of 2021. Then it was assumed that it would begin to operate from January 2022. Then a new term was called - January 2023. But the region was not among those approved by federal authorities.
