Who likes food on a plane?

British scientists from Manchester concluded that during flight, the sound of an aircraft engine negatively affects the perception of freshness and taste of products. An experiment was conducted, the participants of which were invited to try various dishes with blindfolds and to very loud music. Particular attention was paid to how subjects perceive sweet, fresh and salty. It turned out that loud music dulls salty and sweet tastes, but the feeling of freshness increases. Andy Woods, one of the organizers of the study, says he honestly believes airlines are trying to serve delicious food to passengers. But despite their efforts, it is different from regular food. And interested in what affects the taste of “airy” food, it turned out that one of the significant factors is background noise.
