The country opened its borders to foreigners in mid-December 2020. Cubans who were stuck during the pandemic abroad began to return home. Because of this, from January 10, all arrivals require the results of a PCR test and do a second analysis at the airport of arrival.
More than 34,000 people have been infected in Cuba since the pandemic began. From March 1, mass vaccination of the population begins in the country.
Escalona said that tourists will be able to get the coronavirus vaccine in the future.
“We hope that the reduction in the number of cases in both countries and the mass vaccination against COVID-19 will allow the Russian authorities to open flights to Havana and to the Cuban resorts of Varadero, Holguin and Santa Clara,” he said.
The official hopes that in one or two months the epidemiological situation in Cuba will return to normal.
