Named popular routes of adventure tourism 2023
The popularity of active and adventure tours to natural attractions in Russia is growing.
The press service of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) reports: As shown by a study of the hotel booking service MTS Travel and tour operator RussiaDiscovery, the popularity of adventure tourism for the year increased by 30%. This dynamic is about 5 times higher than the growth dynamics of the total tourist flow in Russia.
What is adventure tourism?
A type of active tourism that involves
- Visiting natural attractions,
- atypical remote areas,
- immersion
- physical activity - hiking, alloys, long excursions in nature, etc.
The most popular destination for adventure tourism from June to September was Republic of Altai (17% of all trips). Another 16 per cent were Dagestan and Karelia.
Top 5 regions included Karachay-Cherkessia - 9% and Irkutsk region - 6%.
